Quinacridone Burnt Orange | Matisse Acrylic Paint
First commercially available in 1950, 's This colour is best described as the modern, permanent version of Brown madder. It has a lightfast rating of ASTM I. A brilliant earthy maroon mass tone tints out quickly to a rich red undertone, producing shadows with any blues or yellows. It is semi-transparent and will stain (although not to the extent of a phathalo blue). It works well for deeper flesh tones and when mixed with phathalo blue to create an extensive range of browns, turquoise and greens. It's often used as an accent in landscapes or seascapes because it complements the colours found there.
