    Quinacridone pigments are dioxotetrahydroquinolinoacridine compounds,
    First commercially available in the 1950's This colour is best described as the modern, permanent version of Brown madder. It has a light fast rating of ASTM I. A brilliant earthy maroon mass tone tinting out quickly to a rich red undertone which works well to produce shadows with any blues or yellows. It is a semi transparent, and will stain (although not to the extent of a phathalo blue). Works well for deeper flesh tones. 

    Semitransparent pigment, semitransparent to opaque paint.
