Rising to prominence in the early 20th Century, as the conversation around safe material practices progressed, Cadmium colours offered a desirable substitute for highly noxious pigments like Vermillion, which contained pure mercurial sulphide.

Addressing these concerns, the pigments in our traditional Cadmium range undergo a thorough acid-wash treatment, ensuring all bio-available heavy metals are removed for peace of mind. To further alleviate any remaining fears, our new Cadmium-Free range of colours are formulated through a process that consciously excludes heavy metal pigments entirely.

Colour Mixing with Cadmium Free Red Deep

Cadmium-Free Red Deep is luscious and dark red in colour, redolent of conventional Cadmium pigments. This punchy, versatile colour is slightly cooler than other red hues in the series, featuring markedly bluish undertones. Traditional Cadmium Red Deep is a staple on many a standard mixing palette, and our new Cadmium Free alternative will be no exception, showcasing unparalleled tinting strength and lightfastness on par with its highly praised predecessor.
