DERIVAN DIMENSIONAL PAINT
3 dimensional paints for use on fabric, leather, plastic, glass and many other surfaces.
A new versatile paint that comes in 6 different styles through a range of dozens of colours. This product can be applied straight from the bottle or with a brush on the surface which you are working. Dimensional Paint will adhere to most surfaces including wood, craftwood, masonite, card, cardboard, plaster, terracotta, paper, plastic, cotton, canvas, polyester and most other fabrics.
Dimensional Paint does not need to be heat set. Store Dimensional Paint in a cool, dark place with the lids firmly on the containers. Dimensional Paint should have a shelf-life of 2 years.
Slick:
Applied straight from the bottle onto fabric, Slick imparts a shiny high gloss finish that can also be applied in thin lines, giving an availability of detail which is very useful if you want to write words on your artwork. Using a brush, spread the paint around to cover a large area - don’t worry, it still leaves that great glossy finish.

***NEW***
Clear Slick has just arrived - a great product for use on may surfaces - create faux mosaics (pictured - created by Gwen Crichton), or add a drop of water to a painted petal. This product dries completely clear.
Puff:
Our puff paints are, as the name suggests, designed to puff up from your work. When the puff paint has dried properly (we recommend at least 6 hours), the next step is to heat it, to make it rise. The best way is with a hairdryer on the hottest setting or put the work into a clothes dryer also on the hottest setting. The only thing that can go wrong with puff paint is its tendency to crack but this is easy to prevent. Firstly, never heat set puff paint with an iron and, secondly, areas of puff paint (especially thick areas) tend to crack; therefore puff paint is best kept for use as lines and dots. Practice on a sample cloth first.
Pearl :
This paint is very similar to our Slick except, of course, that the colours in this range seem to have an extra quality and depth in them. This is because of a unique synthetic pearl pigment mixed into the paint during production. Apart from this quality, the only difference is that Pearl is slightly stiffer than Slick and hence should not be applied in big areas (no bigger than say a 10 cent piece) if that area is to be subjected to a lot of flexing and bending.
Glitz:
These are old favourites and you should see them being made in our laboratory, glitter everywhere. Although our paintmaker hates making them, you’ll love using them. What we have done is suspended glitter in a clear adhesive medium. When this paint is wet it looks milky but don’t worry it dries clear and the glitter will look great. As with the other styles of Matazz, this one can also be applied with a brush but make sure you wash it well with water or it can clog the brush. Also, you may need to use a pin to clear the bottle’s spout every so often with this range.
Fluro:
This paint is identical to Slick except, of course, that fluorescent pigments are added during production, These pigments reflect light in a more concentrated wave than ordinary colours, therefore making them appear bright (sorry, they won’t glow in the dark). When applied straight from the bottle (with a bit of practice), you can get them to stick up from the surface; so not only can you see these bright colours, you’ll also be able to feel them.
Metal:
Once again, these have similar properties to Slick but they come in metallic colours. So if you want a real gold or silver look, these are just what the doctor ordered.
Colour Mixing:
All the colours may be intermixed to form bright secondary and tertiary colours.
Clean Up:
Wash all utensils, brushes and hands with soap and water to clean up.
Removal of paints stains:
The Dimensional Paint is made to stay on fabric so once it is on and has dried, it is extremely hard to remove. It is a little easier if it is still wet.
Wet Stains:
Place stained area of garment under a tap of cold running water, holding balance of garment above the stain so that the colour does not spread. After removing surplus paint, place wet garment on a towel and rub ordinary household soap into the stain working the heavily soaped wet cloth area between your fingers in a rolling action using the thumb and forefinger of each hand on either side of the stain. Do not rub the stain directly. Wash the area under cold water and repeat procedure 2 or 3 times till all colouring is removed. Dry out wet garment by wrapping in a towel and twisting to remove excess moisture. Dried Stains: ammonia cleaner, such as a window cleaner, may take out some colours. However, most stains are unable to be removed. Soaking stains overnight or dry-cleaning may remove some stains. Do not iron over a stain.
Health and Safety:
Dimensional Paint should not be used by young children. It cannot be easily removed from clothing. Dimensional Paint is made on a water-based polyurethane base using organic pigments for colouration.
